Outdoor Activity Instructor Traineeship

In association with Donegal ETB’s Further Education and Training Service, Gartan offers an Outdoor Activity Instructor Traineeship programme. The course runs from September to July each year and operates five days a week for 45 weeks.

The course is aimed at people interested in pursuing a career in the outdoors and trains participants to basic instructor standard across a range of adventure sports such as kayaking, hill walking, powerboating, emergency first aid, sailing and windsurfing. Course fees are subsidised by Donegal ETB and trainees receive a weekly training allowance for the duration of the course.

Colleges and Universities

Along with offering the Instructor Traineeship, Gartan provides courses and programmes to colleges and universities. Courses vary from team building days to multi activity residential programmes to tailor made programmes to suit specific needs.

Courses and programmes are coordinated and delivered by National Governing Body qualified instructors with a wealth of experience to draw upon when working with your institution. You can be rest assured that students and trainees are in safe hands when they step into our outdoor classroom.
