Leaving Certificate Biology (Ecology)

Gartan OETC provides ecology studies in a woodland, bogland or seashore habitat. Students will use the following techniques prescribed for the mandatory tasks: Line Transect Quantitative and Qualitative Study Identify 5 Flora and 5 fauna using Simple Keys Capturing Invertebrate and Small Mammals Measuring and Analyse of Abiotic Factors Construct Food chains, Food Webs and a Pyramid of Numbers Gartan OETC can also provide field studies in a habitat in your own locality. Gartan can come to you with all the necessary equipment.

Presentations – Trip to site – Feature study – Wrap up presentation on writing up the report.

We ensure you gain maximum benefit from your course!!

All course equipment is provided.

Minimum 2 tutors per group of more than 18 participants.

Glacial and Coastal Studies are also available, please contact the Centre.

The centre delivers programmes to suit Transition Year and Junior Certificate students. Students are introduced to a variety of field studies techniques (both in geography and/or ecology). The field study canbe combined with an outdoor adventure activity.
