The Blueway 10K initiative is an 8 week program designed to develop fitness through the sport of kayaking, comparable to ‘Couch to 5k’. The Blueway 10K is a progressive training plan, that not only increases ones fitness, endurance and strength but also encourages technical and tactical skill development thereby improving coordination, balance and dexterity.
Blueway 10K is the result of a collaboration between Canoeing Ireland the National Governing Body for canoeing in Ireland, Irish Olympian Eoin Rheinisch and Dr Neil Fleming an accomplished World Championship level sprint kayaker.
There is no prior experience or equipment required. Just bring your gym gear, old runners and hit the water! Gartan OETC will provide tuition, kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids … the rest is up to you!!
Each week you will be required to complete 2 kayak sessions. The sessions will run from 1830 – 2000 on a Monday and Thursday evening.
The grand finale is a 10K race/paddle which will take place on Saturday 18 August 2018
