Boathouse

Gartan Outdoor Education and Training Centre is situated within an 87-acre woodland estate on the shore of beautiful Lough Gartan in Donegal. The lough and woodlands provide a superb base for many fun adventure activities and outdoor learning sessions.

The Centre is owned and managed by the Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB).

With more than 25 years’ experience in the provision of Outdoor Education we are able to offer a wide variety of programmes.  Our friendly Outdoor Education staff are highly qualified to safely instruct individuals in a range of courses and outdoor adventure pursuits.

Facilities

The main building offers accommodation (96 beds in total) to facilitate overnight residentials. This accommodation is housed in two wings consisting of:

  • 10 ensuite rooms overlooking the beautiful Gartan lake/Derryveagh Mountains (West wing)
  • Several spacious hostel style rooms (4-6 beds) with communal bathroom and shower (East wing)

Each wing has a dedicated dining room and a state of the art kitchen which serves great food. The main building also houses lecture rooms, the Indoor climbing wall and changing facilities. There is free Wi-Fi, Disabled Access and on site parking.

The Boathouse enjoys superb views of the lough. It is less than 100 meters from the main building. It is available for hire for small conferences, training and special events (civil ceremonies).
