Outdoor Education is our core business. Gartan Outdoor Education
Centre courses pay particular attention to providing a quality, comfortable
and fun learning environment.
We endeavour to ensure that each individual gains experience and
achievement within the adventure sport elements of their course, while
focussing particularly on personal development.
Staff at Gartan OEC, all highly experienced, qualified and enthusiastic,
are particularly good at encouraging each student to greatly benefit
from their stay at the Centre. All have received recent, approved,
training in Child Protection.
We’ll ensure that awareness, appreciation and care of our wonderful
environment are themes that run through all Outdoor Education courses.
All equipment used is appropriate to weather, time of year and activity.
Replaced and updated regularly, you’ll be supplied with the
best for your safety, comfort and warmth.
Our location is perfect. Not only do we have our own 87 acre Estate,
through which we hope eventually to provide some of the fuel for our
biomass boiler, we are also next door to Glenveagh National Park,
the Donegal Eagle Reintroduction Programme, Glebe Gallery, the wild
and wonderful Donegal coastline, rivers, forests and our own Gartan
Lough. The Colmcille Heritage Centre, interpreting the life of our
local saint, Colmcille, is on our own Estate.
In addition to all of this, the food is great!
| Secondary |
|
| Most courses take place mid week,
with schools from throughout Ireland, and sometimes further afield,
travelling to the Centre.
Courses, run on a residential or non residential basis, combine
the excitement of a variety of adventure sports with the fun
and camaraderie of team building activity. Our very full programmes
actively acknowledge the need to care for our environment. You’ll
really appreciate why when you see just how beautiful Gartan
is.

A good mix of land and water based

| Primary |
|
| Our Outdoor Education courses for
Primary level students are designed to be great fun! We really
encourage each child to become fully involved (generally a very
easy task), and staff are very sensitive to the needs of each
and every one. Again, residential and non residential courses
are available, with an excellent mix of activity appropriate
to the age group.
Our immediate location is a great environment for learning,
personal development and fun for the younger child.
