This innovative short residential course for Leaving Cert & A Level students and their teachers begins at Gartan OETC, Co. Donegal on the evening of Thursday October 22 and will be completed by 1.30 on Saturday October 24.

The aim of this new course

Gartan OETC and Consilium Education have teamed up to offer a unique course for students and their teachers. The aim? To work with teachers in pursuit of excellence and to help young people leave school ready for the expectations of university and employment. The key to what we call “The Learning Wedge” lies in combining the resilience developed by outdoor education with academic skills to promote the habit of working independently.

Teachers will attend the academic and outdoor learning sessions with their students while also having the opportunity to complete a significant CPD programme that examines the thinking behind “The Learning Wedge”. They will return to school with new ideas about independent learning and student motivation that can quickly be put into practice.
